Chrysler, GM dealers closing in Miami?

The Chrysler list of 789 doomed dealers shows 4 in Miami, and that’s just what the Miami Herald, Sun-Sentinel and all the local TV stations have been reporting. However, the official Chrysler list also includes about 6 “Spitzer” dealers all in Ohio. Something tells me that Spitzer Dodge of Homestead has a corporate address in Ohio, and the Homestead dealer is most likely slated to be closed.

In addition, TV reports that Lehman Buick, Pontiac, GMC received a closing letter from GM.

Why did Tamiami Chrysler get it’s franchise yanked? Why would one of the top dealers in Florida get canned? Look no further than Coral Way and SW 72 Avenue. Tamiami, perhaps reading the writing on the wall, never started building the expensive new automotive Taj Mahal dealership that Chrysler wanted them to build… What may have been a good business move may have been a bad corporate politics.
